“He turned out to be even more beautiful than we expected.”
Last year, a member of the animal rescue team at Street Paws in Bali encountered a fragile stray cat in need of urgent help. The cat was very thin and his fur was covered in a thick, sticky substance, likely from an accident involving a trap. The rescuer carefully picked him up and took him straight to a veterinary clinic.
At the clinic, veterinarians patiently cleaned the substance from his fur and provided him with proper care. They named him Timothy and made sure he received enough nutrition and hydration. At first, Timothy was very weak and needed time to recover, but he remained calm and cooperative throughout the process.
Eli, a rescuer from Street Paws, visited Timothy daily and followed his steady progress. After some time, Timothy was ready to leave the clinic and move into a foster home. His rescuer, Mayang, decided to foster him temporarily. In a safe and caring environment, surrounded by other rescue cats, Timothy continued to improve.
“He gained weight, and his fur started growing,” Eli shared in a video for The Dodo.
Over the following weeks, Timothy’s condition improved significantly. His eyes became brighter, and his gray-and-white coat grew back soft and healthy. He gradually transformed into a completely different cat.
“He turned out to be even more beautiful than we expected,” Eli said.
As time passed, Mayang formed a strong bond with Timothy. She realized she didn’t want to part with him.
“It was a classic foster fail,” Eli said.
Today, Timothy lives happily with Mayang and her other cats, enjoying a safe and peaceful life away from the streets.
“He’s just so happy,” Eli said.
